This Jeep Wagoneer was built in September of 1971, and is titled as a ‘71, but has the AMC 360 V8 and TH400 automatic transmission offered in 1972. The Jeep came with a factory 360, but the engine was replaced some time in the late 90s with a crate motor and got a bunch of upgrades since then.
The engine has a mild cam, air gap dual plane intake manifold, Edelbrock carburetor, Holley electric fuel pump and fuel pressure regulator, MSD ignition components, custom deep oil pan, and Edelbrock headers. The Jeep was equipped with an older model Edelbrock Pro Flo fuel injection system when I got it. I never could get it to run the way I wanted it so I removed it and converted it back to a carbureted system. I left the entire Painless wiring harness in place as well as the control module, and will be including the fuel injection setup as well as the intake manifold with the sale of the vehicle incase the new owner would like to convert it back to fuel injection.
The transmission is a TH400 3 speed automatic mated to a Dana 20 transfer case. The Jeep shifts through the gears just fine and the 4×4 works well. Both the transmission and transfer case were recently resealed as well.
I was told the Jeep had a lift kit installed by the previous owner but I am unsure what size. It does not sit overly high or handle any different than stock, and fits the 31” tall tires nicely. Wheels are original with original hubcaps. Tires are 31×10.50 Big O A/Ts that are old but have lots of tread left all hold air.
The stock rear Dana 35 and front Dana 27 axles have no known issues aside from seeping covers and some dirt/grime.
The only notable rust on the vehicle is in the rear quarters and the tailgate which I have included in the pictures. Overall the frame and underside of the vehicle appear to be pretty clean.
The interior is in excellent shape overall for its age and is very clean. There are some imperfections in the carpet and headliner as well as the dash, which can all be seen in the pictures. The doors all open and close as they should, and windows function with the driver side sticking occasionally. The rear window regulator is missing teeth and will need to be replaced. The window will roll down and the tailgate functions properly, but the window needs a helping hand while cranking.
