Here is a pretty decent example of a 1972 Jeep Commando. This Jeep is equipped with the 304 V-8 engine and automatic transmission. It is also 4 wheel drive, with hi-lo range and lock out hubs. It runs great, starts right up and idles correctly, and has a newer battery. The engine has plenty of power, does not make any unusual noises, nor does it smoke. The automatic transmission shifts great, all functions of the transfer case work, the shifter seems a little sloppy but definitely works fine. All of the electricals work as they should, including head and tail lights, turn signals and brake lights, windshield wipers and heater, and the original radio. The aftermarket tach and amp gauge do not work, but the aftermarket oil pressure gauge does work. The temperature selector for the heater is a little stiff, but it does work. The odometer reads 77,100 miles, but the Colorado title shows mileage exempt as it is a vehicle over 10 years old. The previous owner had the brakes professionally replaced, the front springs re-arched with new bushings, and the carburetor rebuilt. It drives down the road very well, just a little bit of wandering as is to be expected from an older Jeep.
