1979 Jeep J10 Honcho.

This Jeep sold new in Phoenix, AZ and spent the majority of its life in Page, AZ. It was brought back to Phoenix last year, which is when I purchased the Jeep. Indicated mileage is 92,492 and the previous owner insisted it has not rolled over (obviously cannot confirm that). Clean/clear AZ title is in my possession.

Overall, the body is in great shape. The floors had some minor rust, but new panels were installed. The bed is remarkable and no rust. The driver side rear quarter panel has very minimal rust in the seam (area where all these Jeeps rust). Other than that, what a great body! Amazing patina. Front passenger fender looks like it hit something, but the dent is not bad at all. Couple small dents and dings in miscellaneous areas from 44 years of life. I was going to remove the front passenger fender and pound out the dent from the inside, but never got to it. The frame, engine compartment, tailgate have no rust. Overall an outstanding, 99% rust-free Jeep! Tailgate does open funny due to possibly a slight bend?? Haven’t tinkered with the tailgate.

Personally, I wouldn’t do anything with the body. I’d drive this Jeep and enjoy it as-is. I’d get a new interior from BJ’s off-road and call it a day. New carpet and re-do the seats and you’re in business!

Mechanically, I’ve heard the Jeep run and it runs good. However, it’s been sitting for a few months and for whatever reason, this Jeep has a hard time starting after it’s been sitting. If you spray starting fluid that helps. I’d rebuild the carburetor or purchase one of the Chinese aftermarket carbs that actually work really well. I haven’t had the time or energy to work on this Jeep so I’m passing it along. I imagine a new carburetor will alleviate this problem. I’d transport this Jeep as non-operational. Battery is also a few years old so will need a new battery.

Previous owner states he’s done the following work:

New complete cooling system

Refurbished gauge cluster from Jeep Recyclers

New gast tank, fuel sender, hoses

New lenses/bulbs all around the truck

New clutch

New exhaust from manifold back to include catalytic converter

Front/rear differential fresh fluid

Some miscellaneous new aftermarket parts are included with the Jeep.

6 cylinder motor and T5 manual shift transmission.

I do have an OEM front brush guard I’ll provide with the vehicle (not installed). They’re very hard to find. This brush guard has a welded on hitch receiver and also has a slight bend. These are repairable.

This Jeep is sold as-is, where-is with not warranty stated or implied. Obviously expect a minor project when you get this thing. A few weekends of work and you’ll have yourself an awesome truck! If you need assistance with transport, I know a great broker that can ship this Jeep across the country very reasonably.
